Privacy Policy
Last updated: 18 September 2026
TapHalo ("we", "us") provides NFC and QR tags and stations that open a web profile when tapped — no app needed. This policy explains what we collect and how we use it. Personal and medical information lives in your secure TapHalo account, never on the tag itself.
Email addresses
When you create a TapHalo account we store your email address. We use it to sign you in, to send you tap and visit notifications (for example when a finder taps your pet's tag or a sitter taps in at your Pet Station), and to send important service messages such as subscription and security notices.
We do not sell your email address or share it with advertisers. Notification emails are sent from notify.taphalo.co.uk through our email delivery provider. You can change your notification preferences in your account settings.
Visit records
When someone taps a Pet Station or Care Bracelet, we record the interaction: who tapped in, the time, activities or notes they entered, and when they left. These records form the permanent Pet Care Timeline for your household.
Visit records are visible to you as the station owner. Visitors can create and finish their own visit but cannot see or alter other records. For Healthcare products, medication and care entries are recording and audit only — TapHalo does not provide medical advice or autonomous prescribing.
Visit photos
Visitors may attach a photo when they tap in or out (for example, a photo of your pet on a walk). Photos are private to you as the owner: a visitor can add one, but only you can view the photos stored for your stations.
What finders and visitors see
A person who taps your pet's tag sees only the contact details you have chosen to show for that tag — for example a phone number or email so they can reach you. They cannot browse a list of owners or pets, and microchip numbers are never shown to finders.
For Healthcare profiles, sensitive information such as allergies, medications and GP details is only visible to people you authorise, and you control what is shown.
Data we do not collect
Tapping a tag or station does not require the visitor to install an app or create an account. We record the time and tag code of each tap; we do not ask finders for their personal details beyond what they voluntarily type into a contact form.
Storage, retention and your choices
Your data is stored in TapHalo Cloud with access controls so that only authorised users can read it. Your tap history, timeline and backups are kept while your subscription is active. You can update or remove your pet, care and contact details at any time from your owner app, and you can contact us to delete your account.
The NFC chip itself stores no personal or medical data and needs no battery — it simply points to your private web profile, which you can update at any time without replacing the tag.
